The EDU IT Team continue to respond to all queries that are sent to the helpdesk at edu.yorku.ca email address. If you have an issue with your account, please email helpdesk at edu.yorku.ca with your full name, student number (if applicable) and a brief description of your problem.
Initially, the EDU IT team has focused on the creation of email accounts and distribution lists. Shortly, we will publish connection guides for mobile devices and email clients other than MS Outlook or Entourage.
Snow Leopard, the recently released update to the Mac OS, is currently being tested and offers built-in support for MS Exchange services. With Snow Leopard, mac users can access Exchange information with mail, iCal and address book.

Old email (pre September 4th 2009) is still available via Firstclass. Firstclass can be accessed via your desktop installation or via the Firstclass web version.
New email (September 5th 2009 onwards) is now delivered through MS Exchange. This email can be accessed through http://webmail.edu.yorku.ca

All message delivery within Firstclass has been disabled. This includes internal messages and external messages.
Message delivery has been switched to MS Exchange, which, for most users, is serviced through Outlook Web Access.
Current student accounts and alumni accounts have been created with the format of firstname_lastname at edu.yorku.ca and the initial password has been set to your student number.
The web-based service is available at http://webmail.edu.yorku.ca
If you are experiencing difficulties with your account, please email (if you have another email account) your full name and student number to helpdesk@edu.yorku.ca
We will respond to your requests as quickly as possible.

We have had to re-create Alumni accounts, and they will be available later on this morning .
More details will be posted here as soon as we have them.

All current students should be able to login with firstname_lastname at edu.yorku.ca as their username and their student number as their password.
Alumni accounts will be created over night and will also have the same login credentials, firstname_lastname at edu.yorku.ca and the student number as their password.
Faculty member and instructor accounts have been issued with individual passwords.
External email is no longer being delivered to firstclass and has been re-routed to MS Exchange. To reduce confusion, private messaging will be turned off over-night.

Outlook Web Access will be available on Friday, 4th September 2009. Current students can log into the system with the following details:
User ID: firstname_lastname at edu.yorku.ca
PW: your student number
The service is available at http://webmail.edu.yorku.ca

As of today (Monday August 31st) we are scheduled to transfer mail delivery services from FirstClass to MS Exchange on Thursday September 3rd.
FirstClass will still be available to access historical email and your new account details will be sent to your FirstClass account (this is applicable to Faculty, staff and alumni). Current student accounts will be created with your student number as your initial password.

As part of the IT Transition process within the Faculty of Education, we will be changing the server name for the FirstClass server,
If you currently use the desktop version of the firstclass software application, you will have to make a change to the server setting within FirstClass. The attached PDF indicates the steps that should be taken to change the setting.
You should make this change as soon as possible, as the system change will come into effect on June 30th 2009.
The following steps should simplify the process:
1. Download and open the attached PDF file.
2. Close FirstClass (if you have it open)
3. Launch FirstClass and then follow the instructions within the PDF.
For those users familiar with Firstclass settings, the server name will be changing to fc.edu.yorku.ca
